LAY APOSTOLATE

The Lay Apostolate Department in the Catholic Diocese of Kigoma promotes the role of the laity in seeking the “Kingdom of God” through both spiritual and temporal engagement. It ensures that lay members actively participate in Church and societal matters.

The department coordinates ecclesial movements such as WAWATA, VIWAWA, TYCS, Holy Childhood, family apostolate, and other lay associations. Its main goal is to enhance evangelization through active participation in Small Christian Communities, Pontifical Missionary Societies (PMS), and other Church groups.

It also provides training, guidance, and formation programs aimed at improving the moral, intellectual, and social welfare of the laity while strengthening grassroots development.
